What is Pintura?
We’ve had some inquiries about Pintura, a highlighting technique developed by DevaCurl. Pintura—Spanish for "paint"—is a freehand color method designed specifically for curly and textured hair types. Like balayage for curly hair. While we are not affiliated with DevaCurl, our curly hair experts are well-versed in coloring as well as cutting curly hair.
Clients with curly hair want highlights that will respect their curl pattern. Traditional foil techniques can sometimes fall flat on curls, hiding color between the spirals or creating harsh lines. That’s why our team uses freehand, curl-conscious techniques to paint highlights in a way that complements your hair’s natural movement and bounce.
While we don’t use the name Pintura, our approach shares the same philosophy: thoughtfully hand-painting each section to follow the unique shape of your curls. The result? Sun-kissed dimension that looks natural, radiant, and grows out beautifully.
