Big Color Changes and Extreme Lifting

Here's what you need to know about "transformative blonding" or big color changes.  When we apply bleach to the hair, we have a limited window of time before the chemical stops lightening. Leave it on too long and the hair can be irreversibly damaged. Depending on how light you want to go, it may take many steps and sometimes multiple appointments to get to your goal. We will always choose to protect the hair fiber when doing color corrections. That might mean going slow to get your end goal. Your hair will need extra reinforcement and hydration after big color changes and we'll recommend products to give you the best recovery benefits at home.

Bleached Your Hair at Home?

We don't judge! It actually happens more than you might think. Bleaching your hair at home is not the same as getting it done professionally. It's more than just a matter of skill, it's about products too. Bleaches vary so much in quality, ability and performance. The best bleaches can't be purchased without a license. Blondie's hair stylists are highly trained to bleach responsibly. Before we bleach, we assess your starting color, texture, density, and previous hair color history. This helps us calculate the correct lightener to use, which strength, and which developer. Please don't attempt bleaching your hair at home after watching a few videos! So much can go wrong, as the developer does NOT equal the level of lift when it comes to bleach! If you're not happy with your results, book a hair color appointment at Blondie's and ask us to book some extra time for a consultation.

Hair Color Removal

Yes, it is possible to remove unwanted hair color or hair dye; however, this maneuver is best left to the professionals. We will examine your color and determine the best path forward, which may involve lifting the color out or adding a color on top. Repeated use of box hair dye can create overlapping bands of color. Our skilled color correction stylists work section by section to create uniform results.

Whatever you do, please do not attempt to bleach your hair at home or add more hair color on top of the shade you want removed. This will only complicate the color correction process and increase the risk of damage to your hair. If you have a hair color emergency, we will get you in as soon as possible.  During normal business hours, call (855) 425-6634 or email us at info@blondiescolumbus.com.

Color Balancing

If your blonde hair has gone too far, we can help you take it down a notch or two. You know you've gone too far when friends keep asking you if you're tired! If your hair has gone too light with an undertone that doesn't work with your complexion, you'll look washed out. We can help restore your blonde hair to a color that compliments your eyes and skin tone! If your blonde hair or grey hair color has developed yellow tones or your highlights are too warm, we can adjust your color. Our approach may be as straightforward as a toner application, or we may need to add some lowlights. We'll always assess your hair first and explain what we need to do.

Clarify Green "Pool" Hair

Have you been in the pool all summer and now have green hair or mineral build up?? It’s okay, it happens to the best of us, especially blonde hair or hair that has been chemically lightened. Sometimes you will notice a faint green tint on the lightest strands of hair. Or you may notice your hair has a very slippery feeling when wet. Don't worry, it is mineral build up. We have a treatment at the salon that will remove the minerals without stripping your hair.
